Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: It transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural and spiritual; and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity. — Albert Einstein

The  religion  of  the  future  will  be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. “ศาสนาในอนาคต จะต้องเป็นศาสนาสากล ศาสนานั้นควรอยู่เหนือพระเจ้าที่มีตัวตน และควรจะเว้นคำสอนแบบสิทธันต์ (คือเป็นแบบสำเร็จรูปที่ให้เชื่อตามเพียงอย่างเดียว) และ แบบเทววิทยา(คือพึ่งเทวดาเป็นหลักใหญ่)   ศาสนานั้นเมื่อครอบคลุมทั้งธรรมชาติและจิตใจ  จึงควรมีรากฐานอยู่บนสามัญสำนึกทางศาสนาที่เกิดขึ้นจากประสบการณ์ต่อสิ่ง ทั้งปวง  คือ  ทั้งธรรมชาติและจิตใจอย่างเป็นหน่วยรวมที่มีความหมาย    พระพุทธศาสนาตอบข้อกำหนดนี้ได้

.…ถ้าจะมีศาสนาใดที่รับมือได้กับความต้องการทางวิทยาศาสตร์สมัยใหม่ปัจจุบัน ศาสนานั้นก็ควรเป็นพระพุทธศาสนา”
